Stay In School Because It's Your Life Program
The Stay in School Because it’s Your Life Program aspires to help students who are at-risk of dropping out
of high school complete their OSSD requirements. The program is designed to help students with learning disabilities to stay
in school and go on to college or university or successfully gain meaningful employment upon graduation.
The Program is broken down into 6 components.
Each component will develop specific skill sets necessary for success.
Assessment:
A free Psycho-educational
assessment will be completed by a psychologist for 5 participants who have never undergone an assessment.

Understanding Your Assessment: Information and training sessions will be given in order to encourage
self-knowledge and understanding of one’s own LD and/ or ADD and their strengths/ weaknesses. The Programs emphasis
on understanding and accepting strengths and limitations allows participants to make academic, career and vocation choices
with a greater potential for success.
Self-Advocacy Training: Through a series of workshops, participants will take part in self-advocacy
and self-awareness skills training. An experienced and accredited facilitator
will help to empower and guide the participants to discover strengths and coping mechanisms that will assist youth in the
future.
Developing a Personal Plan: Participants will be guided through the process of developing a personal action plan for transition. Goals will
be individually based and focused on success.
Job/Placement Experience: Volunteer job placements and/ or school placements will be coordinated for clients to integrate them into their
chosen area of interest.
Ongoing Support:
will be provided on a needs basis by LDA Resource Counsellors. This service will be available after the completion of the
program.
