Academic Support Programs
We offer specific academic
support programs to meet the needs of students experiencing learning difficulties.
Assistive Technology
One-on-one
training offered in 5 hour blocks on assitive technology. Programs available including training in Kurzweil, Dragon Naturally
Speaking, Inspiration, Word Q, and Premier. The cost is $35/hour for members or $40/hour for non-members. Sessions will be
booked individually between the tutor and the client.
Computer Skills Program
Program is offered three times
per year (Fall, Winter and Spring).
The objective of the program is to teach touch-typing skills on a computer to students
who are experiencing written skill problems. Many students who have difficulty writing can be taught to touch type 10-30 words
per minute in just 10 or 12 weeks of instruction.
Positive Conflict Resolution
Children who have been diagnosed
with LD and/or ADHD may experience difficulty with modulating their emotions and therefore present with behavioural problems
at school or at home. We are offering this Anger Management group to children
ages 8-12 that will focus on helping these children deal with their emotions and gain some control over their anger.
Social Skills
Our 10-week program is offered
three times per year (Fall, Winter, Spring) and assists in the development and reinforcement of positive social skills and
appropriate social behaviour. Offered in a supportive environment which encourages friendship, positive emotional behaviour
and presents positive conflict resolution techniques.
Stay In School Because It's Your Life
This program aspires to help
students who are at-risk of dropping out of high school complete their OSSD requirements. The program is designed to help
students with learning disabilities to stay in school and go on to college or university or successfully gain meaningful employment
upon graduation.
Summer Support Program
Our Summer Support Program
combines the core components of our Social Skills, Keyboarding and Academic Tutoring Program.
