The Learning Disabilities Associations of Mississauga and North Peel are non-profit, charitable organizations.
 
We are a group of parents and professionals brought together by our  concern for children and adults with learning disabilities.
 
 
What does LDA do?

We assist people with learning disabilities and their families in meeting their expressed needs by:
  • providing support, guidance and up-to-date resource information
  • providing direct programs and services in identified areas of need for persons of all ages with learning disabilities
  • providing the opportunity for the sharing of information and common concerns
  • encouraging research in the field of learning disabilities
  • supporting and generating legislative initiatives.
LDA furthers the educational, social, recreational, legal, medical, vocational and employment opportunities for people with learning disabilities in Peel Region.
 
LDA acquaints professionals working in the above listed fields -- education, recreation, legislation and justice, health, vocational training and employment - with the current literature and research in the field of learning disabilities.
 
LDA creates public awareness of learning disabilities by informing the public of the issues and challenges faced by people with learning disabilities.
 
In addition, we maintain resource centres containing books, literature and videos related to learning disabilities. Feel free to contact us about our library.

Where are the LDA Chapters in Peel Region & who do they serve?

LDA Mississauga (LDAM) is located at 165 Dundas St. West, Suite 400 in Mississauga, Ontario.

LDAM serves the residents of Mississauga.

 

LDA North Peel (LDANP) is located at 104-150 Central Park Drive in Brampton, Ontario.

LDANP serves the residents of Brampton & Caledon.

About Your Local LDA Chapters in the Region of Peel

 

The Learning Disabilities Associations of Mississauga and North Peel are non-profit, charitable organizations. We are a group of parents and professionals brought together by our concern for children and adults with learning disabilities.

 

Our efforts are directed toward these basic goals:

  • Assists people with learning disabilities and their families by providing support, guidance and resources information
  • Provide an interactive environment, offering workshops, programs, courses and support groups
  • Provide public awareness of learning disabilities
  • Supports LDAO in pursuing legislative and government initiatives with special education funding and curriculum
  • Support LDA Ontario in their work with the provincial and local governments to initiate new policies for those with learning disabilities

 

OUR MISSION STATEMENT

 

LDA's mission is to provide leadership in learning disabilities advocacy, research, education and services and to advance the full participation of children, youth and  adults with learning disabilities in todays society.

 

We value promoting positive change through:

  • Informed public policy and;
  • Quality products and services

We achieve our mission by offering direct programs, services and supports to persons with learning disabilities, their families and professionals they may encounter.

 

Who supports LDA?

LDA is funded through donations from individuals, foundations and corporations. We are especially grateful for the continued support from the Region of Peel and United Way.

All donations are gratefully accepted and a receipt will be issued for all donations $10 and greater.

How do I join?

Each LDA chapter is also supported by its hundreds of members across Peel Region . We encourage all those who are interested in learning disabilities to join.

  • affiliation with local, provincial and national levels
